**Poster Notes:** Poster was produced during the era of mandatory procurement of food from USSR villages that left them without adequate grain supply. In addition, the curbing of ration card use, restriction of bread supply, and the government’s rejection of releasing grain in storage exacerbated “provisioning problems” from 1946 to 1948. An estimated two million people died in the USSR as a result of food shortages in the immediate post-war era.

Mikhail Mikailovich Solov'ev was born in Moscow. In 1930 he graduated from the advanced courses of the A.Kh.R.R. (Association of Artists of Revolutionary Russia).
