Chirchiq (A.K.A. Chirchik) is a city located northeast of Tashkent in Uzbekistan. It was founded in the mid-1930s when a group of villages on the Chirchiq River united during the construction of a hydroelectric power station, one of the most important industrial works ever carried out in Central Asia.
