State Scientific and Technical Publishing House
Founded in Leningrad during the late 1920s, the State Scientific and Technical Publishing House also had offices in Moscow and in the Soviet Republics. In 1934, the publisher served as an editor under the banner of the Joint Scientific and Technical Publishing House of the People's Commissariat of Heavy Industry. According to the Great Soviet Encyclopedia (1976), Stroiizdat (Publishing House of Construction Literature) supplanted the State Scientific and Technical Publishing House in 1932. However, research indicates Stroiizdat was formed in 1931 as Gosstroiizdat (State Publishing House of Construction Literature) based on literature published that year in its name.
