Located in Khabarovsk in Far Eastern Russia, the Joint-Stock Company of Knizhnoe Delo (Book Business) was formed in October 1923 in Khabarovsk. Its formation was based on Goskniga (State Book Enterprise) an existing state publishing entity. Knizhnoe Delo also had offices in Chita, a city near the Mongolian border. Around 1931, the publisher was reorganized as Dalgiz (Far Eastern State Book Publishing House).
