1st State Typography named for Georgi Dimitrov, Sofia, [Bulgaria]
The 1st State Typography in Sofia was named in honor of Georgi Dimitrov (1882-1949), the first communist leader of Bulgaria. From 1934 to 1943, Dimitrov served as secretary-general of the Comintern (Communist International) and he led its European section. Originally a printer and union leader, Dimitrov was a Bulgarian socialist who helped establish the Bulgarian Communist Party. Dimitrov died in the Soviet Union.
